Journal Funding Sources
Al‑Rafidain Dental Journal is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal published by the University of Mosul. This journal follows the principles of transparency and best practice in scholarly publishing, as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Funding Model
The journal is fully self-financed. It does not receive financial support from any external funding agencies, institutions, advertisers, or sponsors. The only source of income is the Article Processing Charges (APCs) paid by authors after manuscript acceptance.
2. Article Processing Charges (APCs)
-
APCs are levied to cover the costs associated with editorial processing, peer review management, website maintenance, typesetting, archiving, and print production.
-
The current APC is 100,000 IQD.
-
APCs are only requested after a manuscript has been accepted for publication.
-
The APC is not refundable once the article is published.
3. Waivers and Discounts
We recognize the financial limitations of some authors. Waivers or discounts may be offered in the following cases:
-
Authors from low-income or lower-middle-income countries (as classified by the World Bank)
-
Early-career researchers or students
-
Special cases with documented financial hardship
For waiver requests, authors must contact the editorial office before submission or during the review process. All waiver decisions are at the discretion of the editorial board and are handled confidentially.
4. Editorial Independence
-
APCs do not influence editorial decisions.
-
All submissions are evaluated based on academic merit, originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal's scope.
-
Peer review is conducted in a double-blind process and managed independently from the journal's financial operations.
5. Author Disclosure Responsibilities
-
Authors must disclose any financial support, institutional funding, or sponsorship received for their research or publication in the “Funding” section of the manuscript.
-
Any potential conflicts of interest must also be declared in accordance with the journal’s Conflict of Interest Policy here
6. Policy Updates
This policy is reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect best practices in scholarly publishing and the ethical standards recommended by COPE, DOAJ, and the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).
