Benefiting from digital repositories from the perspective of Mosul University Faculty : College of Arts as a model

Abstract

Digital repositories have become an inevitable necessity today for every university or academic institution that seeks to manage and organize information sources and long-term preservation, as digital repositories provide a large group of information sources that are used to keep pace with developments and the completion of scientific research and support the curriculum. This study came to measure the extent of benefit of digital repositories from the point of view of teachers of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Mosul. The study followed the descriptive surveyed method for its suitability for this type of study. The researcher used the questionnaire as a tool for data collection and it was distributed to 50% of the total of the study community (they are the teachers of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Mosul), which number (341). The study identified a random layer of class sample of teachers of the Faculty of Arts with a number of (171) from all departments of the college. The questionnaire was distributed and the percentage of recall was (100) From the number of questionnaires distributed to survey their opinions, the study reached a set of results, the most important of which was that the study sample has knowledge of digital repositories and came by (64%) through social networks, which had a major role in introducing digital repositories, and that (63%) of the study sample members achieve a great benefit from digital repositories, which are considered the academic portfolio of intellectual product and a platform for the dissemination of scientific research.
