Memory in Sonallah Ibrahim's novel, Beirut, Beirut

The research entitled (Memory in the novel Beirut Beirut by Sonallah Ibrahim) deals with the recall of memory in the novel Beirut Beirut, especially since the writer Sonallah Ibrahim had focused in this novel on monitoring the sequence of past historical events, which dealt in general with presenting the image of the civil war in Beirut, and showed in multiple places the reflection of this war with all its cultural, political and social dimensions.Therefore, the focus of the research was on addressing the methods of recalling memory in this novel, whether it was through the direct method that shows the mechanism of recalling events with their historical timeliness occurring in different places in Beirut, as the method of narrating memory required addressing the indirect method in which imagination clearly enters.The nature of the research also required highlighting the relationship of memory to the components of narration by studying the projections of remembrance and memory in showing their relationships with the limits of time, place and character, as these components cannot be studied unless the mechanism of remembrance is studied in relation to the limits of these components.Therefore, our approach to the research was to investigate models of the novel that examine the effect of remembrance and its necessity in appropriate places. As we mentioned, remembrance in the novel is most correct if the novel contains a realistic treatment of a historical issue whose events revolve around secondary incidents that belong to the main ones. This is what we notice in the narrative aspect related to the novel Beirut Beirut, where the writer dealt with the political figures who had an impact on the time of the war and presented the agreements, meetings, raids and everything related to remembrance about the central issue on which his novel was built.
