Abstract

The metaphorical depiction of a trait constitutes an essential part of figurative imagery. It serves as a tool in the hands of novelist Mislon Hadi, who has successfully employed it to craft metaphorical imagery in numerous scenes of her novel "The Land Borders."

This research adopts the rhetorical analytical approach to examine instances of trait-related metaphorical expressions within their narrative contexts. Metaphor is not merely a means of conveying meaning through words that do not explicitly indicate their apparent referent; rather, it is a formulation of an idea that emerges from the author's inner perception. Thus, the words chosen for metaphorical structures are meticulously selected, ensuring that each term is placed precisely in its proper context, allowing the metaphor to overflow with profound meanings
