Abstract

From the early beginning , Mosul received the attention of the Abbasid Caliphate , and it was regarded one of the most important provinces from the political and economic perspectives. It had a great credit in selecting the location of Baghdad as the capital of the Abbasside Caliphate. In fact, caliphates and rulers paid a great attention to Mosul. Mosul witnessed a big economic prosperity. Such a prosperity in agriculture m industry and trade played a significant role in its development.
This research attempts to shed light on the economic importance of Mosul. This development in its markets on the locational and economic levels was clear , a development which contributed in the flowering of its economic life and which was harmonious which the multitude , structure , and the services of the city. in addition to its great population.It was located at the trade routes.Mosul was marked by the cheapness of it , prices , the abundance of its markets , and the different sorts of its static and seasonal markets
