Door Althiafa (Guesthouses) in the Mamluk era - Dar Al-Saada in Damascus as a model (648-923 AH / 1250-1517 AD)
Abstract
The research aims to present a study on guesthouses and rest houses in the Mamluk era - Dar Al-Saada in Damascus as a model, which was considered one of the most important hospitality institutions in the Mamluk era, where traditional hospitality functions were combined with administrative, political and social matters, which embodied a noticeable development in the administrative and political system of the Mamluk state, as the research deals with the development of guesthouses in that historical era, and how guesthouses became not limited to providing basic services, but rather became strategic centers with prominent administrative, political, social and cultural dimensions. The research aims to study the role of Dar Al-Saada in Damascus within this context, especially since the house was a vital center for managing the affairs of the Levant and accordingly, studying Dar Al-Saada in Damascus represents an important model for understanding the role of hospitality and its impact on, State Structure and Organization of Society and life in the Levant in the Mamluk era
